Nile Entertainment, the latest venture from industry veteran Moses Babatope, is making its first foray into film distribution with the upcoming release of “The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3.”

Babatope, who recently departed from his role as the Managing Director at FilmOne, announced the distribution deal via Instagram on August 13, 2024.

“This project has been a labor of love,” Babatope said, highlighting director Omoni Oboli’s return to the big screen after a five-year hiatus. “We’re incredibly proud to bring something truly special to our audiences.”

The film marks the third installment in the popular “Wives on Strike” franchise, which began in 2016. The satirical series follows a group of women using a sex strike to advocate for social change, blending humor with commentary on gender-based issues in Nigeria.

Oboli, who both directs and stars in the film, leads an ensemble cast including Chioma Akpotha, Uche Jombo, and Ufuoma McDermott. The project also features Hilda Dokubo, social media personality Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (KieKie), and May Yul-Edochie.

In an exclusive interview with The Nollywood Reporter, Babatope outlined ambitious plans for Nile Entertainment’s future.

“Our core mission is to be transformative agents for the industry,” Babatope said. “We aim to multiply the revenue potential of Nollywood films, replicate it across Africa, and export it globally.”

The executive emphasized Nile Entertainment’s commitment to curating stories that resonate deeply with audiences while elevating Nigerian cinema on the international stage.

While a specific release date for “The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3” has not been announced, the film’s distribution through Nile Entertainment signals a new chapter for both Babatope and the Nigerian film industry.

The movie is scheduled for theatrical release on 18 October 2024.
