Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli has set an October 18, 2024, release date for “The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3,” the latest entry in her successful comedy franchise.
Oboli made the announcement via social media recently, hinting at the film’s emotional depth. “Be prepared to be on the edge of your seat,” she wrote, urging fans to mark their calendars for the premiere.
The “Wives on Strike” series, which began in 2016, uses humor to address serious social issues. The original film followed women who withheld sex from their husbands to protest child marriage and gender-based violence.
“The Uprising” continues this tradition, focusing on a widow whose only child is kidnapped. The film promises to explore themes of love, friendship, loss, betrayal, and resilience.
Produced by Dion Vision Films and distributed by Nile Entertainment, the movie boasts a star-studded cast including Hilda Dokubo, Uche Jombo, and Chioma Akpotha. Oboli both directs and stars in the film.
The production has partnered with several major companies, including UBA Group and Interswitch Group, potentially signaling a high-profile marketing campaign.
As the October release approaches, industry watchers will be keen to see if “The Uprising” can match or surpass the success of its predecessors in both box office returns and social impact.
