Lionsgate Films’ “The Crow” reboot has found an unexpected haven in Nigeria, bucking its global box office struggles.

According to the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria, the dark fantasy film grossed ₦17 million in its third week, bringing its cumulative earnings to ₦69.5 million as of September 12. This performance secured it the second spot on the weekly charts, narrowly edging out Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” which debuted with ₦16.9 million.

The Bill Skarsgård-led remake, based on James O’Barr’s graphic novel, faces stiff competition from local productions like “American Japa” and “The Weekend,” as well as the Marvel blockbuster “Deadpool and Wolverine.”

“Deadpool and Wolverine” continues its domination of the Nigerian box office, maintaining the top spot for seven consecutive weeks. The Disney R-rated film added another ₦29 million to its impressive run.

Globally, “The Crow” has struggled, earning only $21 million against its $50 million budget. Industry analysts have already labeled it a box office “bomb” internationally.

Despite these global challenges, the film’s positive reception in Nigeria suggests it may surpass the ₦100 million mark locally, highlighting the divergent tastes between Nigerian audiences and the global market.
