Africa Magic is set to premiere “Omera”, its latest drama series, featuring veteran actor Akin Lewis and rising star Desmond Bryce. The show will air on Africa Magic Showcase starting September 30, 2024, and is scheduled to run from Monday to Friday at 8 pm.
Produced and directed by Femi Ogunsanwo, “Omera” delves into the life of a young man navigating the complexities of migration and self-discovery.
Set within the culturally rich Igala community, the series follows the lead character’s decision to “japa” (leave for greener pastures) and the eventual consequences that force him to return home. His failure abroad takes an unexpected turn as he assumes control of his uncle’s NGO, leading to a journey of ambition, betrayal, and redemption.
Speaking about the new series, Ogunsanwo emphasized its depth and relatability. “We’ve poured everything into this story,” he said. “”Omera” is going to leave viewers captivated and wanting more.”
MultiChoice West Africa’s Executive Head of Content and Channels, Dr. Busola Tejumola, also highlighted the show’s emotional intensity. “From the very first scene, the twists and emotional depth will have you hooked,” she stated. “”Omera” isn’t just entertaining – it’s a story that resonates.”
The show’s cast, is led by Akin Lewis and Desmond Bryce, includes Lanre Ayanwale, Baaj Adebule, Godwin Williams, Mary Kowo, and Kingsley Nwachukwu.
Africa Magic has previously delivered successful series like “Ajoche”, “Enakhe”, “Masquerades of Aniedo”, and “Unbroken”, and “Omera” appears to continue that tradition.
