Nollywood Star Iyabo Ojo Makes Big-Screen Debut as Producer with “Labake Olododo”

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo is making her big-screen debut as a producer with the indigenous feature film “Labake Olododo”.
Iyabo Ojo, who has built an illustrious career spanning decades, announced the start of principal photography for the film, marking her first foray into the cinema blockbuster space.
“Labake Olododo” delves into deep themes of truth, faith, societal norms, and personal redemption, offering audiences a rich narrative that reflects Yoruba culture.
The film boasts an ensemble cast including Tayo Faniran, Muyiwa Ademola, Ibrahim Chatta, Bimbo Akintola, Toyin Abraham, Femi Adebayo, and Broda Shaggi, among others.
Ojo, known for her influential role in Nollywood, is both the director and producer of the film. Over the years, she has become one of the most recognized Yoruba actresses, known for her commitment to delivering quality narratives that showcase the richness of Yoruba language and tradition.
In a recent social media post, Ojo shared her excitement about the project, calling it a passion piece years in the making. “This story is close to my heart. It’s a film about truth, faith, and the consequences of our choices,” she said.
The Yoruba sector of the Nigerian film industry is currently experiencing a notable shift, with veteran actresses like Ojo taking on leadership roles in production. Alongside her peers—Eniola Ajao, Mercy Aigbe, Wumi Toriola, and Jaiyeola Kuti—Ojo is helping to redefine Nollywood’s box office landscape, bringing both critical and commercial success to indigenous films.
“Labake Olododo” is set for a Q1 release in 2025.
