Denzel Washington, the celebrated Hollywood actor known for his roles in “The Equalizer” and “Glory”, recently confirmed he will appear in “Black Panther 3”.
In an exclusive interview on “Today Show Australia”, the actor hinted at a carefully planned lineup of projects before he considers retiring from the film industry.
“I am only interested in working with the best. I don’t know how many more films I’m going to make—probably not that many,” Washington shared, hinting at his future plans. Among his next moves, Washington revealed roles in major upcoming projects, including Shakespeare’s “Othello”, a potential collaboration with director Steve McQueen, and the iconic Marvel film.
With Ryan Coogler reportedly writing a new role specifically for him in “Black Panther 3”, Washington’s addition could bring a new dimension to the franchise, known for its cultural significance and groundbreaking impact since its 2018 release. This installment will continue the legacy of the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the lead role in the original film and whose passing left an indelible mark on the cast and fans worldwide.
Washington’s announcement also highlights his upcoming work on “Othello” at age 70, a reprise of the role he first played as a young actor. Following this, he intends to portray Hannibal, collaborate with McQueen, and revisit Shakespeare’s “King Lear” before a possible retirement.
The “Black Panther” series has become a touchstone in Marvel’s cinematic universe, blending action with African cultural influences and making waves globally with its compelling cast, including Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, and Michael B. Jordan.
