“Abrefi Koto, a new Ghanaian animated film premiering on November 9, brings traditional West African folklore to the screen.
The story follows Abrefi, a young girl from a small village, who discovers she has inherited mystical powers. When a dark force threatens her home, she must learn to harness her abilities to protect her people.
Directed by Karen-Happuch P. Henneh, Abrefi Koto draws on Ghana’s landscapes, art, and cultural symbols, offering a visually rich journey into African myth.
By combining traditional storytelling with animation, the film aims to highlight Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and inspire audiences with themes of courage and resilience.
