Diana Childs, a rising figure in Nollywood, is set to make her cinema debut with “143”, an emotionally charged film exploring friendship, love, and infidelity.
Slated for a nationwide release on November 22, 2024, the movie promises to offer a fresh perspective on relationships, told through the lens of a mature woman’s romance with a younger man.
Directed by Jide ‘Jblaze’ Onyegbile, known for his recent work in “House of Ga’a”, “143” represents a collaboration between seasoned professionals and emerging talent in the Nigerian film industry.
Diana Childs, the CEO of DC Productions, took to Instagram to announce her film, saying, “Bound by vows, torn apart. Anticipate a story about friendship, lust, betrayal, and love in #143themovie.”
“143” follows the story of a woman trapped in an abusive marriage, who finds solace and eventually love in a younger man. The plot raises thought-provoking questions about loyalty and societal norms as she struggles between her obligation to a failing marriage and her newfound affection. The film’s message, according to Childs, is straightforward yet powerful: “Love always wins.”
The movie’s cast includes Nollywood veterans like Tina Mba and Uzor Arukwe, as well as rising stars such as Baaj Adebule, Brutus Richard, Bryan Okoye, Chy Nwakanma, Daniel Abua, Lolade Okusanya, and Obinna Okenwa.
In an exclusive interview with The Nollywood Reporter, Childs discussed her vision for “143”. “I wanted to explore the other side of traditional stories where an older woman falls for a much younger man. Is age truly just a number?” she said, highlighting the film’s aim to redefine narratives around age and relationships in Nigerian cinema.
As “143” nears its premiere, audiences can expect a film that tackles complex themes with authenticity and emotional depth. The trailer, now available online, offers a glimpse of the intense drama that awaits cinema-goers later this month.
