Tom Cruise’s latest mission is proving hard to beat at the Nigerian box office.
After opening with ₦84 million and pushing Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” off the top spot, “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” is still leading the charts with a strong ₦55 million in its second weekend.
Only four films this year have done better in their second frame: “Sinners” (₦106 million), “Ori: The Rebirth” (₦63 million), and “Captain America: Brave New World” (₦57 million).
The film’s -34% weekend drop is one of the year’s most stable holds, behind only “Sinners,” “Labake Olododo” (-10%), and “Ori: The Rebirth” (-19%).
As of now, “MI:8” has grossed ₦202 million in Nigeria, becoming just the sixth film this year to cross the ₦200 million mark. If it maintains this pace, it could land in the year’s top three highest-grossing titles.
