Laju Iren’s Onobiren, a film about the unique experiences of women and their role in the community, has marked its presence with a ₦30.5 million opening weekend.
Coinciding with Women’s Month, the release marks Iren’s first cinema outing as an executive producer and her first chart-topping theatrical release. The film finished as the number one title in the Nigerian market, outperforming Love and New Notes, which earned ₦28.3 million in its second weekend, and the debut of Mother’s Love with ₦25.3 million.
Onobiren: A Woman follows the story of young Delta-born lady named Roli, who moves to Lagos in search of greener pastures.
The film features Ruby Akubueze, Bisola Aiyeola, Deyemi Okanlawon, Patience Ozokwor, Norbert Young, and Desmond Bryce.
