“Onobiren: A Woman’s Story” Launches With ₦30M At Nigerian Box Office

Laju Iren’s Onobiren, a film about the unique experiences of women and their role in the community, has marked its presence with a ₦30.5 million opening weekend. 

 

Coinciding with Women’s Month, the release marks Iren’s first cinema outing as an executive producer and her first chart-topping theatrical release. The film finished as the number one title in the Nigerian market, outperforming Love and New Notes, which earned ₦28.3 million in its second weekend, and the debut of Mother’s Love with ₦25.3 million.

 

Onobiren: A Woman  follows the story of young Delta-born lady named Roli, who moves to Lagos in search of greener pastures. 

 

The film features Ruby Akubueze, Bisola Aiyeola, Deyemi Okanlawon, Patience Ozokwor, Norbert Young, and Desmond Bryce.

 

Top six highest-grossing films for the March 6 to 8 weekend (according to Nigerian Box Office on X)

  2. Love and New Notes: ₦28.3 million (Weekend 4)
