For the second consecutive week, “Ballerina” has topped the Nigerian box office during weekdays (Monday–Thursday).

According to data from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), the Lionsgate “John Wick” spin-off earned ₦14.5 million between June 23 and June 26. When added to its weekend total of ₦29.9 million (June 20–22), the film’s total gross for the week comes to ₦44.4 million.

By comparison, the Yoruba-language epic “Iyalode” earned ₦11.8 million during the weekdays and ₦31 million over the same weekend, bringing its weekly total to ₦43.2 million.

A similar pattern emerged the previous week (June 16–19), when “Ballerina” pulled in ₦20.4 million compared to “Iyalode’s” ₦18.5 million during the workweek.

These numbers are interesting because, for two weekends in a row, “Iyalode” has been the overall number one film. But it seems the Nigerian audience for “Ballerina”—and by extension, the John Wick universe, skews more active on weekdays than weekends.

Still, this trend could be a promising sign for “Ballerina.” If the momentum carries into the weekend, the film might finally outpace “Iyalode” when it matters most. Whether that happens will become clear once the weekend stats are released on Monday.

Here are the top 10 highest-grossing films at the Nigerian box office from June 20 to June 26, according to Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria:

  1. “Ballerina” — ₦44.4 million (Week 3)
  2. “Iyalode” — ₦43.2 million (Week 3)
  3. “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” — ₦23.9 million (Week 1)
