The two films continue to show remarkable staying power at the Nigerian box office.
“Sinners” and “Ori: The Rebirth” Set New Box Office Records
Over the four-day Muslim Eid holiday, two box office records were set — one by Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” and the other by Muyiwa Ademola’s “Ori: The Rebirth.”
Despite clocking eight weekends in Nigeria, Coogler’s vampire horror-thriller still earned ₦11.7 million and finished ninth on the weekend charts.
Allied to its previous ₦746 million, “Sinners” cume now stands at ₦758 million, making it the fifth highest-grossing film in Nigeria.
Only Funke Akindele’s “Everybody Loves Jenifa” (₦1.7 billion) and “A Tribe Called Judah” (₦1.4 billion), and Coogler’s own “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” (₦1 billion) and “Black Panther” (₦818 million) have grossed more.
After raking in ₦23.6 million in its sixth weekend, “Ori: The Rebirth” has now become the highest-grossing non-December release for a Nollywood film, with its current ₦374.6 million cume. The previous record holders were “Queen Lateefah” (₦365 million in 2024), “Brotherhood” (₦328.9 million in 2022), and “King of Thieves” (₦320.8 million in 2022).

“Ori: The Rebirth” is also the second highest-grossing film of the year — behind the ₦400 million of “Captain America: Brave New World” — and the highest-grossing indigenous (Nollywood) outing, surpassing “Reel Love” (₦345 million).
