It’s the sixth film in 2025 to open with ₦100 million in Nigeria.
“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” Rises With ₦107.6 Million Nigerian Launch
Marvel Studio’s latest ensemble, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is off to a spectacular start in Nigeria.
According to Nigerian Box Office on X—and corroborated by data from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN)—the film earned ₦91 million during its opening weekend, not including the ₦16.5 million of mid-week previews which brings its total launch to ₦107.6 million.
This makes “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” the fifth tentpole of the Nigerian year to surpass the ₦100 million mark. For reference, “Iyalode” and Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” managed ₦103 million and ₦106 million respectively, while “Captain America: Brave New World” and Superman’s soared at ₦121 million and Superman’s ₦133 million respectively.
Among foreign/international debuts in Nigeria, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” total still pales behind “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” (₦223 million) “Avengers: Endgame” (₦189.5 million), and “Deadpool” (₦144.6 million). “Superman” (₦133 million), “Captain America: Brave New World” (₦121 million).
Although Marvel’s first family suppressed James Gunn’s “Superman” down in other markets, it wasn’t as significant in Nigeria, where the latter grossed ₦39.7 million, a respectable -43% decline from last weekend’s ₦70.4 million.
