The Yoruba epic film continues its strong theatrical run, outperforming international titles.
Toyin Abraham’s “Iyalode” Hits ₦200M at Box Office in Two Weeks
“Iyalode,” a Yoruba epic film by Nollywood actress and producer Toyin Abraham, has crossed the ₦200 million mark at the Nigerian Box Office just two weeks after release.
The milestone follows its strong debute, where it earned over ₦103.1 million and outperformed international release “Ballerina.”
According to recent box office figures released on June 21, “Iyalode,” which explores themes of power and betrayal, topped the weekend chart with a second-week total of ₦61.1 million, marking a 29% increase from its previous week’s gross of ₦43 million.
With this performance, the film further affirms the audience appeal of epic Yoruba titles in Nigerian cinemas, drawing comparisons to the success of Muyiwa Ademola’s “Ori:Rebirth.”
“Iyalode” has now beaten “Ballerina” for the third consecutive week. The international animation grossed ₦55.6 million in its second week, bringing its cumulative total to ₦139.9 million.
