FilmOne Studios is set to release their new addition ‘Adire’ in the cinemas on Nov. 3
The film is set against the backdrop of a small, conservative village in Oyo town, where it tells the story of a retired prostitute who embarks on a remarkable journey of reinvention. Her decision to start a lingerie-making business using the iconic Nigerian fabric, adire, sparks a wave of empowerment among the town’s women. However, her newfound venture also draws the disapproval of Folasade, the town’s deaconess, and self-appointed leader, creating tension between tradition and modernity.
As “Adire” unfolds, it explores themes of friendship, empowerment, and love in unexpected places. But the tranquility of her new life is shattered when ‘Captain,’ her former pimp, resurfaces, seeking revenge for the money she took from him to start anew.
Directed by Adeoluwa ‘Captain Degzy’ Owu, “Adire” boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Kehinde Bankole, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Kelechi Udegbe, Femi Branch, Yemi Blaq, Tomi Ojo, Mike Afolarin, Ifeanyi Kalu, Ibrahim Chatta, Lizzy Jay, Idowu Phillips, Yvonne Jegede, Jack’enneth Opukeme, and Layi Wasabi.
In a recent Instagram post, Captain Degzy shared the teaser of the film and urged the audience to “Get ready to dive into the world of ADIRE. A FilmOne Studios production.”
“Adire” promises to be a thought-provoking and emotionally charged cinematic experience. With its release date drawing near, mark your calendars for Nov. 3 and prepare to witness a powerful narrative of resilience and transformation on the big screen.
