Bolaji Ogunmola’s latest cinematic offering, “Summer Rain”, promises a heartwarming exploration of love, life, and family.
The film, which marks Ogunmola’s growing influence in Nollywood, is set to debut in cinemas nationwide on February 7, 2025, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Directed by Adenike Adebayo-Esho and written by Owumi Ugbeye, “Summer Rain” tells the poignant story of two friends whose journey to love spans over a decade. Through heartbreak, pain, and life-altering experiences, the film examines how the choices parents make reverberate through their children’s lives. With its themes of resilience and living for the present, the romantic comedy is expected to resonate with audiences of all ages.
Unveiling the official trailer on October 2, 2024, Ogunmola, through her production company, The Ogunmola Company, offered a glimpse into the film’s emotional and comedic depth. “A love that spans a decade. Heartbreaks, pain, and disappointment! Does love really conquer all things? Watch out for “Summer Rain”,” the producer teased in an Instagram post.
The film boasts an ensemble cast featuring some of Nollywood’s most celebrated actors, including Bolaji Ogunmola herself, Daniel Etim-Effiong, Lateef Adedimeji, Genoveva Umeh, Kayode Ojuolape Jnr., Femi Branch, and Tina Mba. Other notable names include Darasimi Nadi, Emeka Nwagbarocha, Kachi Nnochiri, Kanaga Emmanuel Eme, Temitope Olowoniyan, Michael Ejoor, and Jessica Tse. With such a diverse lineup, “Summer Rain” is set to deliver standout performances that bring its multi-layered characters to life.
Distributed by Cinemax Entertainment Nigeria, the film was produced in collaboration with Imagine Media Studios. Cinemax, known for its successful distribution of “Queen Lateefah”, is optimistic about “Summer Rain” making a strong box office debut. The production officially began principal photography in April 2024, and early behind-the-scenes glimpses have already generated excitement among fans and industry insiders.
Ogunmola’s decision to release the film ahead Valentine’s Day signifies its universal appeal as a love story.
