Renowned Nollywood actor and producer Femi Adebayo steps behind the camera for his directorial debut with “Seven Doors”, a anticipated limited series premiering on Netflix on December 13, 2024.
Following the success of his 2023 Yoruba epic, “Jagun Jagun”, which swept major awards including AMVCAs and AMAAs, Adebayo ventures into storytelling that examines cultural unity and division.
Set in 18th-century Yorubaland, “Seven Doors” follows the story of a Yoruba king who breaks tradition to marry an Igbo queen. What begins as a hopeful union meant to symbolize harmony between two cultures quickly spirals into conflict. Their relationship faces further challenges with the arrival of a Hausa businessman whose investment plans threaten the kingdom’s traditions, intensifying tensions among the royal family and their people.
Adebayo describes the series as “one of the things you should look out for this year,” signaling his confidence in its rich storytelling and immersive historical setting. Continuing Nollywood’s tradition of epic narratives, (“Jagun Jagun,” “Lisabi: The Uprising,” and “Anikulapo“) the limited series promises authenticity and drama, with themes of love, loyalty, and power at its core.
“Seven Doors” features a stellar cast including Chioma Akpotha, Gabriel Afolayan, Adebayo Salami, Ronke Oshodi, Muyiwa Ademola, Jide Kosoko, Aisha Lawal, Yinka Quadri, and Adebayo himself.
With “Seven Doors”, Femi Adebayo once again proves his commitment to showcasing Yoruba culture on a global stage.
