Nollywood veteran Adebayo Salami, widely known as Oga Bello, is marking six decades in the film industry with “Her Excellency,” a political drama set to open in Nigerian cinemas on Friday, July 4, 2025.
Set in the fictional Salim State, the story centers on a powerful First Lady whose carefully managed public image starts to unravel when a murder investigation threatens to bring past secrets to light. As political tensions rise, trust becomes increasingly scarce, and long-standing alliances begin to shift.
Sola Sobowale leads the cast as the First Lady, with Femi Adebayo and Odunlade Adekola playing key roles. The ensemble also includes Yemi Solade, Faithia Williams, Bimbo Ademoye, Kie Kie, Aisha Lawal, Muyiwa Ademola, Jide Kosoko, Bola Oyin Adejobi, Muinaat Mustapha, and Mukarar Omo.
“Her Excellency” is co-directed by Adebayo Tijani and Tope Adebayo Salami. The project is a joint effort from Hawks Studios, Ubee Media, and FilmOne Studios, with Sodiq Adebayo serving as production manager. FilmOne Entertainment will handle distribution.
The film arrives during a season that often sees high cinema turnout and is expected to draw attention, not just for its cast but also for its attempt to navigate themes of image, power, and political pressure. For Salami, it marks a milestone in a career that spans multiple generations of Nigerian cinema.
