Nearly a decade after the release of “The Accountant,” American director Gavin O’Connor is reviving the story with a sequel, “The Accountant 2,” scheduled for theatrical release on April 25, 2025.
Reuniting lead actors Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal, the film follows Christian Wolff, a forensic accountant with a dangerous past, as he teams up with his estranged brother to take down a group of mysterious assassins.
Other cast members include Daniella Pineda, J.K. Simmons, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Morgan, and Andrew Howard. The sequel, written by Bill Dubuque, is produced by Ben Affleck, Lynette Howell Taylor, and Mark Williams, and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios.
The original 2016 release received mixed critical reviews but developed a strong fan following, especially for its blend of action and intrigue. In “The Accountant 2,” Bernthal is expected to take on a more prominent role as the brothers work together to solve a murder case.
“The Accountant 2” will open in cinemas worldwide on April 25.
