The critically acclaimed Nigerian drama series “Grind” is set to return for its second season on March 7th, exclusively on Prime Video.
Created by Roberta Orioma, who also stars as the lead, the show follows the journey of Tarela, a young woman striving for survival in the face of relentless socio-economic challenges.
Picking up from where the first season left off, “Grind” continues to explore themes of ambition, sacrifice, and agency through Tarela’s experiences.
Born to a single mother in the slums of Lagos, she is driven by the need to provide for her family. Her decision to enter the world of stripping, influenced by her childhood friend Edesiri (Rosanne Chikwendu), sets her on a complex path filled with personal and professional battles.
The second season promises a deeper dive into Tarela’s relationships, particularly with Wole (Daniel Abua) and the antagonistic Kobe (Eso Dike). As she struggles to carve out a future for herself, the show raises pertinent questions about societal judgment, survival, and the choices women make when faced with limited options.
Directed by Orire Nwani and Joshua Tso-Tso, with Roberta Orioma and Josh Olaoluwa as producers, “Grind” maintains its commitment to authenticity, ensuring a portrayal that is both raw and relatable.
The series continues to challenge perceptions about women in nightlife industries, offering a nuanced perspective that goes beyond stereotypes.
