The upcoming comedy drama is a reimagined version of the 1989 classic film The War of the Roses, based on Warren Adler’s novel.
Jay Roach’s The Roses, which explores the untold struggles of marriage, will make its world debut across cinemas on August 29, 2025.
The story follows a perfect couple Ivy Rose and Theo Rose, whose marriage suddenly hits a rough patch after Theo’s career nosedives while Ivy’s own ambitions take off. This brews an unexpected resentment and competition between the couple.
Written by Tony McNamara, The Roses is based on Warren Adler’s 1981 novel and is a reimagining of the 1989 film The War of the Roses.

Roach’s latest satirical version features Benedict Cumberbatch, Olivia Colman, Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Belinda Bromilow, Sunita Mani. Zoe Chao, and Kate McKinnon.
Searchlight Pictures and SunnyMarch are the production houses behind The Roses, with Adam Ackland, Tom Carver, Leah Clarke, Michelle Graham, Jay Roach, and Ed Sinclair serving as the producers.
The Roses would be released to Cinemas on Friday, August 29.
