JJC Skillz Returns to Cinema with Action Thriller “Hakeem Seeking Justice”
Filmmaker and artiste Abdulrasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz, is set to return to Nigerian cinemas with “Hakeem Seeking Justice”, his first solo theatrical release since 2020’s “Omo Ghetto: The Saga.”
The film, also referred to simply as “Seeking Justice,” stars Deyemi Okanlawon in the lead role as Hakeem, a man pushed to the edge in a fight against a failed justice system. The story, written by Bello and Leo Oji, draws on themes of systemic failure, personal loss, and resilience.
Alongside Okanlawon, the cast includes Kunle Remi, Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha, Regina Daniels, Gabriel Afolayan, Zubby Michael, and Ali Nuhu. Music star Skales makes his acting debut in the film.
While Bello’s recent work includes collaborations such as “She Must Be Obeyed” and the YouTube series “My Sunshine,” “Hakeem Seeking Justice” stands out as a rare independent project not linked to longtime creative partner Funke Akindele.
The film is produced under Afristar Media Production by Bello, Mustapha Mamudu, Harrison Agboifoh, and Suleiman Bello, with distribution by FilmOne.
“Omo Ghetto: The Saga,” which Bello co-directed, remains one of the highest-grossing Nigerian films to date, earning ₦636.1 million at the box office.
“Hakeem Seeking Justice” is slated for a nationwide release beginning August 1.
