A new generation of Karate champions is arising, and they are doing so in grand style.
In 2025, the trend of reviving and expanding beloved film franchises continues strong, and “Karate Kid: Legends” is set to join the lineup with an international theatrical release on May 30, 2025.
The film is the sixth installment in the “Karate Kid” franchise and is set three years after the iconic events in the “Cobra Kai” series.
It follows a talented student Li Fong (Ben Wang), who moves to the bustling city of New York with his mother for a fresh start. In his new school, he clashes with the local karate champion.
To prove that he also has what it takes to be a karate champion, he signs up for a high-stakes martial arts tournament and trains under the tutelage of karate mentor Mr Han (Jackie Chan) and the original Karate Kid, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). Using the teachings of late karate master Mr Miyagi, Daniel and Mr Han teach Li the essentials of discipline and honor—qualities crucial for any karate champion.

Macchio and Chan reprise their roles from the “Karate Kid” franchise, and joining them are new faces such as Wang, Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Ming Na Wen, Aramis Knight, Wyatt Olef and Shaunette Renee Wilson.
Directed by Jonathan Entwistle with a script penned by Rob Lieber, “Karate Kid: Legends” is produced by Columbia Pictures and will be distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing.
“Karate Kid: Legends” is one of the most anticipated film releases of the year, and it’s not hard to see why. For the past four decades, the “Karate Kid” franchise has inspired audiences around the world with its themes of perseverance, mentorship, and inner strength.
This new chapter promises to honor that legacy while introducing a bold new generation of martial arts heroes.
