Kemi Adetiba is returning to the screen with “To Kill a Monkey”, her first project outside the “King of Boys’ universe. The new eight-part crime drama premieres on Netflix on July 18, 2025.

Created, written, and directed by Adetiba, the series follows Efemini (William Benson), a man grappling with financial hardship and personal loss. A chance reunion with an old friend, played by Bucci Franklin, pushes him into the world of cybercrime, setting off a chain of life-altering decisions.

Set in present-day Nigeria, “To Kill a Monkey” explores the price of ambition and the personal costs of survival in an unforgiving underworld. As Efemini sinks deeper into criminal dealings, the lines between desperation and greed begin to blur.

The series features a strong supporting cast, including Stella Damasus, Bimbo Akintola, Chidi Mokeme, Ireti Doyle, Teniola Aladese, and Sunshine Roseman. It also marks a notable absence: Adetiba’s longtime collaborator Sola Sobowale, who does not appear in the series for the first time in her major projects.

“To Kill a Monkey” is produced under the Kemi Adetiba Visuals banner in collaboration with Remi Adetiba. The project was first announced in August 2023, with production completed later that year.
