“When the Poor Smile” sets to be an emotionally charged romantic drama, exploring the dynamics of love, status, and societal expectations.
Directed by Chris Eneaji and featuring a star-studded cast that includes Bolanle Ninalowo, Juliet Ibrahim, Kunle Remi, and Shaffy Bello, the film is set for its release on October 25, 2024.
The story follows Omone, a woman recovering from heartbreak, who finds solace at a luxury resort. There, she forms a deep connection with Mide, a modest security guard, despite the attention of Kene, a wealthy pilot vying for her affection. In a twist of fate, Mide loses his job, leading Omone to visit his home, where she realizes that even in the face of financial hardship, there is joy and dignity to be found.
Produced by Stanley Obi and Chris Eneaji, the film also stars Tolu Babs Omish, Uche Montana, and Abayomi Alvin, and is distributed by Blue Pictures Film Distribution Company.
