Anticipation is building for The Rip, an action thriller set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on January 16, 2026. The film marks another on-screen reunion between longtime collaborators Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
Inspired by true events, The Rip follows a group of Miami Police Department officers who uncover buckets of cash worth millions inside a safe house. What begins as a shocking discovery quickly escalates into a moral and professional dilemma.
As suspicions of internal corruption surface, external forces attempt to breach the safe house, leaving the officers caught between duty, greed, and survival. With pressure mounting, they must uncover the truth behind the money while navigating threats from both inside and outside the department.
Damon and Affleck lead an ensemble cast that includes Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, Kyle Chandler, Néstor Carbonell, and Lina Esco.
Written and directed by Joe Carnahan, The Rip is produced by Damon and Affleck through their production company, Artists Equity. Dani Bernfeld and Luciana Daman also serve as producers on the project.
Damon and Affleck’s creative partnership dates back to Good Will Hunting (1997), which earned them the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. In recent years, they have continued collaborating through Artists Equity, backing films such as Air and The Accountant 2.
