Nollywood veteran Muyiwa Ademola is returning to cinemas with a new film titled “Ori Rebirth,” scheduled for nationwide release on May 1, 2025.
Directed by Ademola alongside Adekola Tijani and Tope Adebayo Salami, the Yoruba-language film brings together familiar names in the industry including Sola Sobowale, Odunlade Adekola, Lateef Adedimeji, and Akinyoola Ayoola.
“Ori Rebirth” follows the story of Bisade, a man whose untimely death has been orchestrated by the ruthless Yeye Fernandez and her cult of three sinister women. Meanwhile, Temidun is destined to save a man marked for sacrifice. Left with nothing but his “mobile God” and an uncertain fate, Bisade must confront the mystery of his own consciousness as he navigates a metaphysical battle between life and doom.
Though details around the full storyline remain minimal, the film’s teaser hints at a spiritual journey steeped in themes of redemption, sacrifice, and divine interference. Ademola described it as “a journey of faith, fate, and redemption” when announcing the project on Instagram.
“Ori Rebirth” appears to draw thematic connections to Ademola’s earlier hit “Ori” (2004), suggesting a continuation or reimagining of the questions surrounding destiny and spiritual alignment.
With its blend of spiritual mystery, traditional belief systems, and dramatic tension, the film adds to the wave of indigenous-language films making a return to mainstream Nigerian cinemas.
