The Igbo epic film “Ekpebiwo M” (I Have Decided) is set to premiere in Nigerian cinemas on November 8, 2024.

Directed by Matthew Ajallys and executive-produced by Jane John-Nwankwo Ph.D., the film explores the strength it takes to choose faith over tradition.

Set in pre-colonial Eastern Nigeria, “Ekpebiwo M” follows the story of a village chief, played by Nollywood star Chidi Mokeme, who turns away from his traditional beliefs to embrace Christianity.

This decision creates tension within his community and family, as they struggle to accept his choice. His wife, played by Ini Edo, fears the potential consequences of this change on their family.

Inspired by the hymn “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus,” the film explores themes of faith, resilience, and cultural conflict, showcasing the challenges of standing by personal beliefs in a traditional society.

“Ekpebiwo M” comes amid a trend of epic films in Nollywood, joining the wave of Yoruba epics released earlier in 2024.

The cast also includes notable Nollywood names such as Alex Osifo, Jide Kosoko, Mary Uche, Chucks Chyk, Patrick Ifeanyi Onyeochatawrycki, and Justice Slik.

Distributed by Tribe Nation Theatrical and Lewabo Inspirational Movies, “Ekpebiwo M” promises to bring an authentic and moving story of culture and conviction to Nigerian audiences.
