For many Nigerians, Kate Amaka Henshaw-Nuttall is the epitome of healthy living and graceful ageing.
The 53-year-old award-winning actress and model walks around looking as radiant—or even better, some would say—than she did 20 years ago, leaving conspiracy theories and what-not in her wake. While not certainly the only elderly Nigerian celebrity to look this good (looking at you Tiwa Savage), Kate definitely tops the list of “most likely to make us question our skincare routines.”
Not one to to gate-keep, the actress has shared sneak peaks of the secret sauces of her success: her diet and workout routine. And on Dec. 13, she once more opened Pandora’s box. A video, roughly a minute-long, showed the quinquagenarian fully kitted at the gym and doing several sets of 24 inches’ box jump and 10kg sand ball slams, topped with 100 rope skips.
“Forget new year resolutions if you are not willing to make the changes for the results you want. No excuses. Age is just a number. Make wellness a priority, not an option! Good morning, my authentic X-family,” she captioned.
It safe to say that this is a daily routine for “Aunty Kate.” Successive 24-inch box jumps and sand ball slams can be straining on the knees of a young adult, much less the diminished muscle-fibers of a woman in her 50s. And it’s most likely a daily affair.
Any seasoned gym-goer will tell you the real challenge isn’t the workout itself—it’s the consistency. Kate’s dedication is proof that she lives by the “no pain, no gain” mantra. It’s no surprise that the comment section lit up with fans pledging to follow in her footsteps… in 2025.
However, one user, @NnediNnebe8987, had a unique excuse: “I intend starting this year, but it’s so cold here, and I’m not good with cold, so I think I’ll start next year, during summer.” Kate wasn’t having it, replying: “Summer is 6 months away. Can’t you work out indoors??” Looks like Kate’s not here for any delays—so maybe we should all stop waiting for the perfect time and just get moving!
