Nigerian singer Dammy Krane has shown no signs of letting his beef with Davido simmer following a slew of allegations against the OBO boss.

In an eye-brow-raising announcement, the singer has named his upcoming EP after Davido’s “5ive” album. Interestingly, both albums are scheduled for release on Apr. 18.

This is no musical coincidence. The one-time friends and former collaborators have been entangled in a longstanding feud since 2022 when Krane accused Davido of owing him royalties for his contribution to the song “Pere” featuring Rae Sremmurd and Young Thug. After no response was given, Krane embarked on an all-out social media war against Davido, accusing the Grammy nominee of various wrongdoings, including alleged involvement in the death of his associates.

In 2023, Davido went on the defense in a now deleted tweet, accusing Krane of not paying for the three verses gifted to him. He further stated that he has been nothing but hospitable to Krane.

In a follow-up tweet, the “Funds” crooner, without directly addressing Krane, stated: “The level of ungratefulness is alarming… lesson learnt.”

In 2024, Davido issued a cease-and-desist letter to Krane in a bid to restrain the ongoing defamation. The move had little effect. Krane was later arrested by the Nigerian Police, allegedly on Davido’s orders, according to controversial social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM,) who played mediator between the artists.

After spending days in detention, Krane was released from prison and rather than apologizing to Davido, issued a public apology to Nigerians for his uncouth behavior. He also announced plans to establish a prison reform foundation for the illegally detained.

Despite the experience, Krane remains defiant and continues his online tirades.

Krane is no stranger to controversy. In 2017, he was arrested in the United States on charges of armed robbery, credit card scams, and internet fraud. The charges were later dismissed.

Krane burst into the Nigerian music scene in the 2010s with a string of hits like “Amin,” My Dear, ” and “Pooner.” At the height of his career, he won multiple industry awards, including a Headie Award for Rookie of the Year. To date, he has released four studio albums.

As Apr. 18 approaches, the stage is set for the ultimate streaming duel. Whether this is a cry for attention or a calculated career move, one thing is clear—Krane is not backing down.

May the best “5ive” win.
