Nigerian singer Davido has broken a 2025 Spotify Nigeria record with the release of his fifth studio album, “5ive,” which amassed 9.3 million streams in a single day following its release on April 18.

The 17-track album now holds the record for the most streams in one day on Spotify Nigeria this year, surpassing his 2023 project, “Timeless,” which debuted with 4.91 million opening-day streams.

“5ive” is also making waves internationally. It became the first African album to debut 12 songs on the UK Spotify Daily Songs Chart. On a global scale, the project recorded 15.03 million streams on its first day, ranking as the second-biggest global opening day for an African album. Wizkid’s “Morayo,” released in 2024, currently holds the top spot with 16.27 million streams.

Released under Davido Music Worldwide, Columbia Records, and Sony Music Entertainment, “5ive” continues to perform strongly across platforms. It currently holds the number one album spot on Apple Music in 19 countries, including Nigeria, and is charting in 87 others.

The album has already surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify and is projected to debut on the Billboard 200 chart next week, with a potential high placement if current streaming momentum continues.
