American singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter has announced the release of her upcoming seventh studio album, “Man’s Best Friend,” set to arrive on August 29, 2025 — exactly 1 year and 6 days after her Grammy-winning project, “Short n’ Sweet.”

The album features 12 tracks, led by the single “Manchild,” which dropped on June 5, 2025, alongside its official video. The song is currently performing exceptionally well, peaking at No. 1 on the Global Spotify chart and holding the top spot on the U.S. Spotify chart for six consecutive days. Industry projections predict “Manchild” is poised to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — marking Carpenter’s second single to reach the chart’s summit.

To launch this new era, Carpenter shared insight into the album’s creation in an email, revealing that she didn’t necessarily plan a new album release, but inspiration came naturally to her.

“I tried not to overthink the process this time, I felt so at ease making Man’s Best Friend that i felt like it was a gift that shouldn’t be taken for granted as every inch came together so effortlessly, different from my other previous projects where I’d bang my head to crack numerous codes,” she said.

Album Art for Man’s Best Friend

She also addressed the unusually short release gap between “Short n’ Sweet” and “Man’s Best Friend.” In today’s music landscape, it’s common for artistes to take two to four years between projects — sometimes longer.

“I went back to some of my favorite artistes growing up listening to a lot of Stevie, Dolly, Donna etc. and was surprised to find so many of those artists i loved put out a new record every year for a long time.”

Alongside the album announcement, Carpenter revealed the provocative cover art, which has sparked widespread debate online. The image shows her on her hands and knees in a black mini dress and black heels, while a faceless man grabs a fistful of her blonde curls.

Some have praised the artwork as metaphorical and bold — a feminist critique of how some men view and treat women in modern society. Others, however, have criticized it as objectifying and inconsistent with Carpenter’s vocal stance against misogyny. The artist has yet to comment on the artwork’s intended meaning as the discourse rages on.

Details on the full production team behind “Man’s Best Friend” remain under wraps, though frequent collaborators Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen are confirmed. Antonoff produced “Manchild,” which he co-wrote with Allen and Carpenter.
