The lead single from her upcoming seventh studio album “Man’s Best Friend” debuts in the top spot, dethroning the former leader “Ordinary.”
Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” Debuts atop Billboard Hot 100 Chart
American singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter has earned another No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100. Her latest release, “Manchild,” from the upcoming seventh studio album “Man’s Best Friend, marks her second chart-topper, following “Please Please Please,” which spent a week at No. 1 in June 2024.
“Manchild” becomes her first single to debut at the summit and her fourth overall top-ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100, following the 2024 summer smash “Espresso,” which peaked at No. 3, and the infectious pop anthem “Taste,” which reached No. 2. Rounding out the list are her two No. 1 singles.
In a year full of milestones, “Manchild” is the first female solo single to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 since her own “Please Please Please.” It is also the first solo song by a female artiste to debut at No. 1 on the chart since Ariana Grande’s “we can’t be friends (wait for your love).” Additionally, it is only the second female solo track to hit No. 1 in 2025, placing Carpenter alongside Mariah Carey.

The single ends the reign of Alex Warren’s “Ordinary,” which slips to No. 2 following a closely watched battle on streaming platforms and social media.
The Grammy winner also delivers a historic moment for her label, Island Records, as “Manchild” marks their first No. 1 debut in 2025. The track becomes the 85th song in history to launch at the top of the Hot 100 and the 1,182nd No. 1 in the chart’s history.
Outside of the United States, “Manchild” also tops the UK Official Singles Chart, making Carpenter the first woman to simultaneously lead both the UK and US charts since she did so last year with “Please Please Please.”

Produced by Carpenter and Jack Antonoff, and written by Antonoff, Carpenter, and Amy Allen, the single also opens at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart.
According to Billboard, “Manchild” amassed 27.1 million official streams, 14 million in radio airplay audience impressions, and 20,000 units sold in the United States during the tracking week of June 6–12, 2025.
