“Wizkid: Long Live Lagos” To Premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival

Directed by Karam Gill, the spotlight documentary will highlight Wizkid’s rise to global stardom

The 2025 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by OKX, has announced its lineup featuring the world premiere of “Wizkid: Long Live Lagos,”  a documentary directed and produced by Karam Gill. The festival runs from Jun. 4 to Jun. 15, 2025 in New York City.

 

“Wizkid: Long Live Lagos” features Femi-Anikulapo Kuti, Ayodeji Balogun, Jada Pollock, Julie Adenuga, Seni Saraki, Sunday Are, Matthew Temitope Solomon, Karen Binns, Adosu Segan, and Tops Bademosi. HBO Documentary Films serves as the U.S. distributor.

 

The 2025 Tribecca Film Festival’s comprehensive lineup encompasses documentaries, narratives, and animated features, showcasing works from artists including Miley Cyrus, Anderson .Paak, Becky G, Ty Dolla $ign, Billy Idol, and Billy Joel. The opening night features Emmy winners Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin’s “Billy Joel: And So It Goes.”

 

Wizkid

The 2025 feature film slate presents “How to Train Your Dragon,” alongside original works including Stephanie Laing’s “Tow,” Libby Ewing’s “Charliebird,” Abele and Raitis Abele’s  “Dog of God,” Anderson .Paak’s “The Inquisitor,” Uttera Singh’s “Pinch,” Clay Tweel’s “Andy Kaufman is Me,” Sisa Bueno’s “For Venida, For Kalief,” Logic’s directorial debut, “Paradise Records,” Tina Romero’s “Queens of the Dead” with the closing film being Richard Ladkani’s “Yanuni.”

 

The documentary highlights comprise Josh Johnson and Grayson Tyler Johnson’s “The Degenerate: The life and films of Andy Milligan,” Shoshannah Stern’s “Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore,” Eloïs King’s “The Shadow Scholars,” with Zippy Kimundu’s ”Widow Champion.”

 

The festival format includes days of live conversations, workshops, screenings, and networking opportunities, culminating in the Tribeca X Awards, which celebrate exceptional brand storytelling across film, entertainment, marketing, art, tech, media, shorts, immersive content, TV, games, and audio.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

 

Attendees will enjoy exclusive performances by Billy Idol, Becky G, and Eddie Vedder, plus panel discussions with members of Metallica, Wizkid, and Ty Dolla $ign.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
