The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards took place on September 14, 2025, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
Hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze, the ceremony celebrated the year’s best in primetime television. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards had been held earlier on September 6 and 7.
With a historic 23 nominations, Apple TV+’s The Studio emerged as the biggest winner of the night, taking home 13 trophies in total—nine from the Creative Arts Emmys and four from the Primetime ceremony.
The show won Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for creator Seth Rogen, and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for Rogen and Evan Goldberg. With this sweep, The Studio set the record for the most-awarded comedy series in a single year, further solidifying Apple TV+ as a powerhouse in television. Rogen also joined Moira Demos, Dan Levy, and Amy Sherman-Palladino as one of the few individuals to win the most Emmys in a single night.

HBO Max’s The Penguin secured one Primetime Emmy for Cristin Milioti in Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. Combined with its eight Creative Arts Emmys, the series achieved nine wins in total, making it the second most-awarded series this year.
Netflix’s Adolescence, which premiered in March 2025 and became the platform’s second-biggest English-language series ever, broke new ground at the ceremony.
The psychological drama earned six Primetime wins and two from the Creative Arts Emmys, bringing its total to eight. It dominated the Limited Series categories, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. Fifteen-year-old Owen Cooper made history as the youngest male actor to win a Primetime Emmy, honored for his role as Jamie Miller. In an emotional speech, he urged viewers to “listen and focus” in order to achieve their dreams.
Apple TV+’s Severance also claimed eight wins overall, with two major Primetime trophies: Tramell Tillman for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and Britt Lower for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Tillman became the first Black and openly gay actor to win in his category. The series added six Creative Arts wins to its tally.
In a surprise upset, NBC’s Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special won Outstanding Variety Special (Live), beating out high-profile events like Beyoncé Bowl and The Super Bowl Halftime Show Starring Kendrick Lamar. The special collected seven Creative Arts Emmys, finishing with eight overall.
