The award marks a major milestone in Adebayo’s transition from skitmaking to screen acting.
Adebowale Adebayo Wins Future Awards Africa Prize for Acting
Nollywood actor and content creator Adebowale “Mr Macaroni” Adebayo has won The Future Awards Africa Prize 2025 for Acting, ahead of fellow nominees Gbubemi Ejeye, Teniola Aladese, Mike Afolarin, and Tomi Ojo.
The organisers announced the winners via Instagram, congratulating Adebayo for his standout performance in Blessing Uzzi’s Freedom Way (2024) a powerful story exploring police brutality and Nigeria’s flawed justice system.
This recognition marks a significant milestone in Adebayo’s acting career, setting him apart from his earlier accolades, which primarily celebrated his creativity as a skitmaker.
Adebayo’s first major acting nomination came in 2018 for Revelation of the Year (Male) at the Best of Nollywood Awards, though he didn’t clinch the win at the time. Since then, he has featured in several notable films, including Freedom Way, Small Talk, Anikulapo, Lisabi: The Uprising, Ayinla, and Red Circle, steadily building his reputation as a versatile performer.
His Future Awards win further cements his growth and recognition as a serious actor in Nollywood, bridging the gap between online comedy and mainstream cinema.
