Renowned interdisciplinary artist and writer Coco Fusco will facilitate an intensive media arts workshop organized by the African Film and Media Arts Collective.
The program is designed for artists with at least five years of professional experience in visual arts, film, and media.
The workshop will take place across five African cities—Lagos, Dakar, Tangier, Durban, and Nairobi with esteemed artists leading discussions on hypermediated culture and how film and media arts intersect with local traditions in each city.
Aimed at fostering experimentation, collaboration, and artistic exchange among African filmmakers and media practitioners, the Lagos edition is set for April 15–19, 2025.
Fusco, a member of the Academy of Arts and Letters and a professor of art at Cooper Union, has received numerous accolades, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, a United States Artists Fellowship, a Fulbright Fellowship, and the Herb Alpert Award in the Arts. She is the author of “Dangerous Moves: Performance and Politics in Cuba”, “The Bodies That Were Not Ours”, and “A Field Guide for Female Interrogators”.
Applications close on March 30, 2025, with selected participants announced on April 6.
