Africa Magic has officially opened the call for entries for the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), inviting filmmakers and content creators across Africa to submit eligible works for consideration. The submission window runs from January 11 to February 15, 2026.
Organised in partnership with MultiChoice, a Canal+ company, the AMVCA remains one of the continent’s most prominent platforms for recognising excellence in African film and television. The 2026 edition continues that mandate, spotlighting creative output from across Africa’s rapidly evolving screen industries.
This year’s ceremony introduces an expansion of the Indigenous Language categories, with the addition of Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa. The move broadens regional representation and reflects a continued push toward inclusive recognition of Africa’s linguistic and cultural diversity.
The 12th AMVCA will feature 32 award categories, comprising 18 jury-decided awards, 11 audience-voted categories, two Lifetime Achievement honours, and one Trailblazer Award. Eligible entries must have been publicly screened or broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 2025. Feature-length films must have screened in cinemas, on television, or on streaming platforms to qualify.
All submissions are to be completed online through the official AMVCA portal, with preview copies uploaded as screened. Detailed eligibility requirements and submission guidelines are available via Africa Magic’s official website.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos in May 2026, with further details to be announced.
