AMVCA Introduces Best Music Score Category, Voting Begins March 23

As preparations for the 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) gain momentum, organizers have announced a new competitive category; Best Music Score.

The newly introduced category will recognize outstanding original songs composed specifically for Nollywood films, further celebrating the role of music in storytelling.

Live nominations and voting for both the new and existing categories will begin on March 23, 2025, giving audiences and judges the opportunity to select this year’s winners.

Renowned filmmaker Femi Odugbemi returns as Head Judge for this edition, overseeing the selection process. A total of 28 awards will be presented, with 10 of them determined by public votes.

The announcement, made on March 13, has already sparked conversations on social media, building anticipation for the annual ceremony that honours African filmmakers and actors.

While nominations and voting begin this March, the official AMVCA events are set to commence in May 2025.
