The pair will lead the first New York revival of David Auburn’s Pulitzer-winning play, opening in 2026.
Renowned Hollywood actors Ayo Edebiri and Don Cheadle, are set to make their Broadway debuts, with the revival of David Auburn’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony-winning play, Proof (2000).
As announced, on August 20, Proof, which first premiered on Broadway in October 2000, centres on Catherine’s struggles with her father’s mathematical genius and mental illness highlighting themes of love, legacy and logic.

The Proof revival will see Ayo Edebiri, known for her Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning performance as sous-chef Sydney on FX’s The Bear, play Catherine.
On the other hand, Oscar-nominated actor and two-time Golden Globe winner, Don Cheadle, will star alongside Edebiri as Robert, playing Catherine’s father.
Thomas Kail, known for his work on Hamilton, will direct the play while Emmy award-winning composer Kris Bowers will handle the original music score.

The Proof revival will be previewed on March 31, 2026, with the opening night scheduled for April 16, 2026.
