Ayra Starr, Adekunle Gold, and Rema Nominated for MOBO Awards

The trio joins a strong list of Nigerian artistes recognized in the Best African Music Act category.

The nominations for the 28th edition of the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards have been announced, with Nigerian Afrobeats stars making a significant presence in the Best African Music Act category.

Of the ten nominees, seven are from Nigeria: Adekunle Gold, Ayra Starr, Davido, Rema, Shallipopi, Tiwa Savage, and Wizkid. They will compete alongside Tyla, Joshua Baraka, and Moliy.

 

Ayra Starr is also the only Nigerian nominee in the Best International Act category, facing global artistes including Cardi B, Gunna, and Mariah the Scientist.

 

The MOBO Awards celebrate achievements across music, acting, podcasting, and wider media. This year’s ceremony is scheduled for March 26, 2025, at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester, England, and will be livestreamed on YouTube.

 

Leading the nominations this year are Olivia Dean, Little Simz, Jim Legxcy, and Kwn, each receiving four nominations.
