Irish Actor Barry Keoghan has deactivated his Instagram account on grounds of targeted harassment.
In a heartfelt post on X, the 32 year-old, known for his roles in “Saltburn” and “The Banshees of Isherin,” explained that the intimidation had crossed “too many lines.”
“My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond to,” Keoghan wrote. “I deactivated my account because I can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work. The messages I have received, no person should ever have to read them.”
The actor also stated that his mother, granny and infant son, Brando—whom he welcomed with ex-partner Alyson Sandro in August 2022—were victims of intimidation, describing disturbing incidents where people knocked on his grandmother’s door and loitered outside his son’s home.
Keoghan’s comments comes amid rumors of a breakup with current heartthrob, popstar Sabrina Carpenter, with People reporting that the duo were “taking a break.”
This also marks the second time in as many months that the actor had publicly expressed his disgust about negative comments on his person and family life.
In November, the Academy Award-nominated actor—for his role “The Banshees Of Inisherin”—while appearing on The Louis Theroux Podcast, shared that his tragic foster upbringing has invited undue criticism about his relationship with his son.
Keoghan is set to star as Ringo Starr in an upcoming biographical film about “The Beatles”, directed by Sam Mendes.
