Danny and Michael Philippou return to the horror genre with their second feature, “Bring Her Back,” set to hit cinemas on May 30.
Distributed by A24, the film follows a brother and sister who, after the death of their mother, move in with a foster parent, only to encounter a disturbing supernatural ritual tied to their new sibling.
The directing duo, known for their viral success on YouTube and their 2023 debut feature “Talk to Me,” continue their exploration of eerie and emotional horror with this latest project.
Leading the cast is two-time Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins (“The Shape of Water”), joined by Bill Barratt (“Responsible Child”) and Jonah Wren Phillips. The ensemble includes Sora Wong, Sally-Anne Upton, Stephen Phillips, Mischa Heywood, Liam Damon, and Olga Miller.
Written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman, “Bring Her Back” expands on themes of grief, identity, and the afterlife, central to the filmmakers’ style.
Ahead of its international rollout, the film will premiere in Australian cinemas on May 29 through Stage 6 Films, under Sony Pictures Releasing International. It joins A24’s upcoming line-up alongside titles like “Eddington” and “Materialists.”
