Burna Boy’s has earned six new music certifications in Canada, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s most successful recording artistes of all time.
The Recording Industry Association of Canada (Music Canada) has now recognized multiple Burna Boy records across platinum and gold tiers. His 2019 hit “On The Low” has been upgraded to 2× Platinum, while fan-favorite “Gbona” has officially reached Platinum status. Recent releases are also making an immediate impact, with “City Boys” debuting as Platinum in the country.
On the gold front, “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” featuring 21 Savage, “Tested, Approved & Trusted,” and “Talibans II” with Byron Messia have all received Gold certifications.
Adding to the milestone, Burna Boy’s 2023 album “I Told Them…” has now been certified Gold in Canada, marking his third album to achieve the feat in the territory. In total, Burna Boy now boasts 18 certified songs in Canada, the most by any African artiste in the country’s chart history.
The achievements arrive alongside another major streaming landmark: officially surpassing 2 billion streams on Audiomack and the third of any African act.
The accolades also come as Burna Boy gears up for a busy summer festival run. He is set to headline AfroNation Portugal this July, alongside fellow global acts Tyla, Asake, Wizkid, Gunna, and Kehlani, reinforcing Afrobeat’s growing dominance on the world’s biggest stages.
