Five years after his passing, Chadwick Boseman will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 20 in Los Angeles.
The ceremony will feature tributes from Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Boseman’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom co-star Viola Davis, while his widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will accept the honor on his behalf.
The star, located at 6904 Hollywood Boulevard, will be the 2,828th on the Walk of Fame and recognize Boseman in the Motion Pictures category.
Boseman, who died in 2020 at 43 after a private battle with colon cancer, made an indelible mark on cinema with portrayals of iconic figures in Black history and culture. He rose to prominence with 42 (2013), playing Jackie Robinson, and earned acclaim for roles in Get On Up and Marshall. His portrayal of T’Challa in Marvel’s Black Panther brought him global recognition; the film grossed $1.3 billion worldwide and received seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.
His final performance as Levee Green in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom earned him a posthumous Academy Award nomination and wins at the Golden Globe, Critics Choice, and Screen Actors Guild Awards. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce described Boseman’s legacy as “extraordinary,” noting that his performances and impact continue to inspire audiences worldwide.
