Award-winning filmmaker Chioma Paul-Dike is set to bring her unique storytelling to life with “Oblation”, a supernatural horror film inspired by her AFRIFF 2023 short film “Dreams”. Principal photography for the project, produced through her Two Shoes Media Production, begins this January.
Written, directed, and produced by Paul-Dike, the film promises a suspenseful narrative deeply rooted in African mythology. “Oblation” explores themes of instinct, revenge, and ancestral secrets, continuing the legacy of “Dreams”. Onyinye Odokoro stars as Nelo, an eight-month pregnant woman tormented by vivid nightmares of an unseen, vengeful force warning her to flee. As these dreams begin to manifest in reality, Nelo must confront the dark truths hidden in her family’s past.
“Horror, especially one that draws from African myths and culture, is a genre I am deeply passionate about,” says Paul-Dike. “With “Oblation”, I want to immerse audiences in a world where instinct, dreams, and revenge intertwine in unexpected ways.”
The film features an impressive ensemble cast, including Nollywood stars Kelechi Udegbe, Chioma Chukwuka, Bucci Franklin, Ebere Okaro, Amanda Oruh, and Ruby Akubueze.
Filming is expected to wrap by the end of January 2025, with post-production scheduled from February to April. “Oblation” will debut on the festival circuit from May to November 2025, ahead of its premiere on streaming platforms.
Paul-Dike, who also co-founded Filmmakers Mart, continues to establish herself as a formidable voice in Nollywood’s evolving horror genre. With “Oblation”, she cements her commitment to blending African cultural heritage with compelling, genre-defining narratives.
