Creele Animation Studios Releases Trailer for 3D Animated Short “Sopo”
Creele Animation Studios has released the trailer for “Sopo”, an upcoming 3D animated musical short film directed by Nissi Ogulu.
The film follows Oyejo, a young musician at odds with his father’s expectations. The conflict between the two forms the basis of a coming-of-age story about artistic ambition and generational differences.
“Sopo” is adapted from “Dis Fela Sef! The Legend(s) Untold,” a memoir by music critic Benson Idonije, who was the first manager of Afrobeats pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

As previously reported by The Nollywood Reporter, TNR, the short features original music and score by Made Kuti, grandson of Fela, while Bose Ogulu serves as executive producer.
The studio held a private screening of the film in Lagos on June 28, 2025, ahead of the trailer’s public release on July 5. While a specific release date and distribution platform have not been announced, the film is expected to debut later in the year.
According to the studio, production is complete, with plans for festival screenings, a limited theatrical run in Nigeria, and potential international distribution. The short is also intended to serve as a prequel to a future feature-length film.
