Funke Akindele’s “Everybody Loves Jenifa” has already made history as Nigeria’s highest-grossing film, but its dream of reaching the elusive ₦2 billion milestone now seems out of reach.
According to the latest Nigerian Box Office report on X, the comedy earned ₦6.8 million between February 21 and February 23, bringing its total to ₦1.879 billion in its 11th weekend. While holding third place this late in its theatrical run is commendable, the numbers suggest that the film will likely stall just under ₦1.9 billion—falling short of its ambitious goal.
The biggest obstacles? “Captain America: Brave New World” and “Reel Love”, both of which continue to dominate the box office. The Marvel blockbuster added ₦57.2 million in its second weekend, pushing its total to ₦226.8 million. Meanwhile, “Reel Love” earned ₦44.4 million, bringing its 10-day cume to ₦167.8 million.

Industry analysts predict “Captain America: Brave New World” will remain the top performer in the coming weeks, further limiting “Everybody Loves Jenifa’s” chances of a late surge. Barring any surprises, Akindele’s film is expected to close out its run just shy of ₦1.9 billion.
