FilmOne Entertainment has addressed recent inquiries surrounding its ‘Nigeria Box Office Rankings 2024’, reaffirming the credibility of its selection process and methodology.
The rankings, which have been a key industry resource since 2020, offer data-driven insights into box office performance, serving as a reference for filmmakers, investors, and industry stakeholders.
The company emphasized that the rankings are compiled in collaboration with data partners Comscore and the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), using structured metrics to assess box office earnings, screen time, and talent contributions. FilmOne also clarified that the selection process undergoes validation from executive producers to ensure industry-standard accuracy.
Responding to questions about performer rankings, FilmOne outlined the criteria for inclusion. Actors must have appeared in one or more films that grossed at least ₦20 million within the eligibility period (January 1 to December 31). Lead performers are determined based on their designated roles in these films, while supporting actors are selected with input from producers and executive producers.
As discussions around the rankings continue, FilmOne reiterated its commitment to transparency and professionalism. ‘“The Yearbook has become a foundational document for the Nigerian film industry, and we remain dedicated to maintaining its integrity,”’ the company stated.
With Nollywood’s rapid expansion and increasing global attention, FilmOne emphasized the importance of verified data in shaping industry narratives. The company called on stakeholders to uphold standards that reinforce trust and credibility within the Nigerian film industry.
