Flavour Fuses Igbo Highlife with Samba in Cross-Cultural Banger “Let’s Dance”

Nigerian Afrobeat artiste, Flavour, (real name Chinedu Okoli) is determined to shake up the dance floor with his single, “Let’s Dance.”

A proud ambassador of Igbo Highlife, Flavour partnered with South African legendary producer Oskido (Oscar Sibongikosi Mdlongwa) and the renowned Brazilian Afro-centric drumming ensemble, Olodum, to create a vibrant blend of Samba and Afrobeats.

The glorious mash-up of Samba, Igbo Highlife and Afrobeats, is part of the newly announced “One Drum” EP, a project which celebrates the cross-cultural collaboration and celebration of African diaspora ties.

“Let’s Dance” comes at an exciting time for Flavour, fresh off his European tour and in anticipation of his upcoming Canadian tour in October.

In addition to his musical endeavors, the Nigerian had another reason to dance this week, following a Federal High Court ruling in Lagos that sentenced Courage Ipaka to two years in prison for impersonating the singer.

Ipaka was convicted for defrauding a U.S. citizen, Yvelte M. Thompson, out of $53,000 by posing as Flavour.

Justice Dehinde Dipeolu handed down the two-year sentence with an option of fine after Ipaka’s guilty plea, a decision Flavour acknowledged with a triumphant tweet: “One Down. Ndi Uchi.”

Fans can certainly look forward to even more rhythmic surprises as Flavour continues to embrace his pan-African stance in music, building on his previous projects, such as his 2023 album, “African Royalty.
